To those that have been or going on the Indochina Discovery

Postby g_traveller_ba60a8bf » Sat Sep 09, 2017 4:28 pm

I'm going on this trip in 4 weeks and I'm panicking because I was told through STA travel that I don't need to get any visas before hand but keep seeing people say to take a Vietnam visa with. Can anyone who has been or going on the trip just reassure me on what to do!

Hey Tara,
I did this tour in 2015 and did have to get the visa for Vietnam in advance. Visa requirements do change quite often so not sure if this is still the case but I would recommend getting one before you go just to be on the safe side. It didn't take that long to get mine so you should still have plenty of time to sort it before you go. For the other countries I just got the visa on arrival which was pretty easy to do just remember to take plenty of passport photos with you.

Hey! I am doing this tour the beginning of October and I have my Vietnam and Cambodia visas - both done online and didn't take long. I was advised by a friend who works at immigration to only use the sites of the countries embassys just to avoid any fake ones, it will give you a list of countries that can use the online visas (I have an Irish passport but I am sure UK will be accepted too!) and the point of entry for Vietnam is on the list for accepting them! And then just print off at least two copies of each! I think only the Vietnam one is necessary to have before tho so maybe just look into that one? Hope thats helpful :)

Hi Tara,

I am from the UK and have been told I do not need a visa for Vietnam as they have extended the trial of UK passport holders with free entry for 15days into Vietnam.

Are you from the UK?
When do you start the tour?
Have you got a visa for Thailand?

Hey Tara,

In the Tour details of your tour are some interesting details about the Visas for the Indochine Discovery:
https://www.gadventures.com/trips/indoc ... ils/#visas

I did the Vietnam and Cambodia part of the Indochina Tour in 2015.
I had to get my Vietnam Visa in advance (I am from Germany). From the currenr tour details it seems this is not necessary anymore and yoiu can apply for an e-visa.

Since I was already looking into the visas I also got the cambodian visa before my journey.
But for cambodia you can get your visa at the border when you go into cambodia. We had to have some passport pictures with us.

It will never hurt if you get your visas in advance :)
I hope this helped.

And: You will love this journey. Have fun!

Cheers
Pete

You can have a 15-days visa for Vietnam when you arrive but if you stay longer then you need to ask for a e-visa. This is the main difference!
If you go for the 15-days visa then you need to prove that you will leave the country in due time (GAdventures can give the required documents)!

Have fun!
