Dehli to Kathmandu May 8th

Ancient temples swallowed by the jungle, rice paddies, local markets, stunning beaches, fiery cuisine, smoking incense at the feet of a golden Buddha, and the friendliest locals around.

If you do a search of this trip in this forum you will come up with lots of advise for that exact trip. You will love it, I did this trip 2 years ago and it was one of the best trips I have taken

You will not be solo for long, almost Half our group was solo but we became a family in no time.

Lots of hand sanitizer. You will find you shoes become very gross and will want to sanitize overtime you take them off and put them on.

Take toilet paper from every hotel so you have extra rolls at the ones that are tight.

Myself and a friend are doing this trip in August. What type of footwear is most suitable for this trip as have heard conflicting suggestions? On the kit list is mentions taking a small pot with a lid for the overnight train journey, what was this for?

I did the AHDK Delhi to Kathmandu trip a couple years ago (the non-YOLO version).

I got by wearing sport sandals (mine are Tevas, but look for a comfortable pair of sandals that strap around your feet and won't easily slip off) and a pair of hiking shoes.

And I have no idea what you'd need a pot with a lid for...expect a long train ride. They provide the bedding. You might want to bring ear plugs and an eye mask.

We did the trip in Feb, I wore a pair of low hiking shoes and Jenn wore runner she picked up at Eddy bauer.

I found my hikers perfect, in Pokhara we did a kike down after the sun rise and so glad I had them.

Thanks for the help with the shoe situation.
How much spending money do you recommend? Did you take this all in cash or did you just take a bit of cash and use ATMs when needed? Thanks

Even though we went in Feb and the currency issue was still a problem. Are CEO was great at findin* ATMs.

I would say take some cash to Exchange, but keep tha5 as an emergency and just use ATMs.
