vic falls to nairobi - march/2013 - Getting nervous!

I have never been to Africa and I booked this trip with my mom. We were excited at first, but after more reading about some of the countries we will be visiting, e.g Kenya, I am getting a little worried. Has anyone had any problems on this trip resently?

i was there in fall 2011, no problems...the tour company constantly has tours going through these areas, so they know where to go to keep everybody safe. Have a great trip!

I've been on several tours including a Nairobi to Vic Falls trip...pre-departure there's always plenty of time to think of all the horrible things that could happen. There's a 99.99999999% chance none of them will. You're with a group of people, you have a tour leader who knows the area and will let you know if there's any places to avoid or issues you need to know about. It's a very safe way to travel.

Quite long days actually. I think we drove for about 14-15 hours the longest day (the day we drove to Dar es Salaam). Started long before daylight and finished just when darkness came. Actually, there are several long drives in this trip until you reach Zanzibar. After Zanzibar, the worst is done when it comes to the long-distance-driving. And also the second half of the trip (from Zanzibar to Serengeti/Ngorgongoro and on to Nairobi) is just amazing!

Thanks!! Think I might do the Nairobi to Zanzibar tour instead and just have to miss out on Vic Falls. Would rather not have long driving days!!

I did a trip from Nairobi to Vic Falls - absolutely amazing! You will have such an amazing time!

I would agree with comments above. Travelling overland with a trip leader is a great way to travel if you are at all nervous or unsure. They are familiar with the areas and will be able to provide you with all the info that you need! There's some long driving days, but well worth it to see all of the places en route!
