Hi - I am climbing Kilimanjaro on 16th Feb 2013 - the 9 day machame route trek- is anyone else doing this trip? Has anyone got any useful tips on what to pack etc?

I'll also be braving the nine day Machame Route starting on the 19th ... phew

Regarding useful tips Hannah, there are a few on this forum, I found this posting valuable...
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14807 - Perhaps you have found it already and other similar posts already ;-)

And perhaps you know to have a camel bag or similar hydration system - the ones with a "pipe" to drink from, as it can be quite exhausting at altitude to unpack and pack your bag just to get to your water. It makes drinking easier as you can drink quickly from the "pipe" on the trot as it were.

Ah ... was it the 6 day trek starting on the 19th or the 9 day trek starting on the 16th?

Bring some vitamins, and some sport drink mix! Seriously consider Altitude pills! (I did the 6 day route, good luck!)
