What to pack?

Am doing the Best of Vietnam leaving Oct,. 28, 2012. Need help with what to pack. Planning on taking a backpack. Are walking sandles OK? We will need a rain jacket, right? Any help would be appreciated.

Sandals are ok unless it's been raining. The rain in Asia tends to be lots of it for a very short period of time. Most likely that you can duck into a store or restaurant for the few minutes of rain.
