Crete - Hiking and Kayaking

Hey - I'm a 28 year old single girl from New York looking to go on the Crete hiking and kayaking trip leaving October 21 - October 28. I don't really want to travel all the way there by myself. Anyone else from New York thinking of going?

I've heard Greece is oppressively hot in the summer. Has anyone gone? I have been wanting to go to Crete for ages and this trip sounds great but I'm a bit worried about it being too hot to enjoy. This June is really the only time I can go.

Any tips would be much appreciated!

I cant speak for June...but I spent most of May 2007 in Greece and the weather was PERFECTION! There was only one day (in Athens) where I almost melted. The rest of my travels through the mainland & the islands (including a week on Crete) were perfectly comfortable. Nice and warm in the afternoons but never opressive.

And I assume you`ll be hiking and kayaking along the coast, so you'll get a breeze.
