Anyway to search for all non-Yolo trips

Postby edwannatravel » Wed Feb 09, 2011 5:18 pm

The trip search feature allows on to select all trip styles or select just one trip style. I would like to be able to search for all trips that I am allowed to go on and not have the result screen cluttered with all the trips I am not allowed to go on. In other words all trips styles except YOLO.

Thanks.

Seems like a reasonable request, we'll see if that possible.

If it is not possible to improve the search engine....dropping the age limits on the trips would be an even better solution. :D

Flogging a dead horse I'm afraid edwannatravel (totally sympathise as I'm a non-YOLO too). When searching for a trip and you get a list up, just put them in Trip Type order and all the YOLOs should fall to the bottom.

My response of just dropping the age requirement for YOLO was partially in jest.

But the coding necessary to add an option of all styles but YOLO would be pretty easy to program at least on any of the multiple web database programs I have used. (As in take less than 3 minutes to complete for the webmaster.)

I have been on 3 tours with GAP. I was planning on doing a fourth trip but the trips I was interested in are now YOLO only.
I don't like being discriminated againt because of my age.
I found another tour agency, Tucan Adventure, that does not cater to the young.
Tucan offers a 25% discount if you book a tour that is departing in less than 60 days.
I leave in 10 days and will report back after my trip with an evaluation.
I enjoy traveling with young people since I am young at heart.
I wish GAP saw it that way !

Hi
I believe that G have now dropped the age restrictions. The trips are still called YOLO but anyone can join, as long as they're aware that accommodation etc may be a little basic.

So G did say they've dropped the age restrictions on YOLO trips adn the description of the one I want to book only says "popular with 18 to 30-somethings" but then when I try to book the trip, it asks for your birthday and gives no option for years before 1974 (nor would it let you proceed without selecting a year).

I think it will be easier to just call them to book :)

I did call them since I didn't get a response to my e-mail and Chelsea helped me book the trip. She confirmed age wouldn't be an issue. Apparently they're doing some kind of website updates and that got missed. They want people over 39 to definitely be aware of what the trip is geared for; I just don't think anyone thought that through. I wish G's website worked as well as their CEOs and sales people ... :D

I'm not daunted by the prospect since I go camping regularly with teenagers but I guess some people need a triply-redundant check. I do recall our skipper in Greece talking about a former client who showed up at the dockside with two hard-sided suitcases and then expected the skipper to fetch her luggage.
