Joing hotel /Airport transfer

Postby kk » Wed Feb 17, 2010 3:02 pm

Hello,

I am about to join the Costa Rica Volcano /Hot Spring (Independent) tour in March 2010. May I find out:

- Name and address of the joining hotel at San Jose
- If the hotel has safe deposit box
- If the hotel offers money exchange service (USD to local currency)
- If GAP can help to arrange airport tranfer, from the airport to the hotel.

Thanks!

The name and address of your starting hotel will be in the trip details.

I would check the hotel if they have a website and can answer your question about safety box.
Every hotel if they don't offer exchange can help you locate the nearest bank.

There are some minimums as far as arranging transfers but I would contact GAP directly to see if it's an option.

Hi

A lot of the Independent tours don't list the joining hotel in the trip details - you may have to contact GAP directly. Transfers are available, again just let GAP know when you book the tour that you want a transfer.

The exchange rate at the hotels are usually less favorable than getting money via the readily available ATM's. There are several at the airport, but, due to the hubbub, they are not readily visible. VISA are much better. Bring more than one, on different accounts, as the machines can be rather fussy. If bringing cash, US dollars, in pristine condition (no rips, tears, worn, etc.) are readily accepted in the major tourist areas. The small soda's (cafe's), tiny shops prefer colones. All change is given in colones, not US.
