I admit it, I'm not too fond of squatties, they make absolutely no sense to me compared to the Western seated toilets but ... there are worse things in life. I had more objections to the absolutely squalid toilets we sometimes had to use in Africa than to the type of toilet itself. At least you could flush toilet paper in Africa (as opposed to putting your used TP into a trash can as I did in Greece and Ecuador). Take two things with you on any rest stop in Africa: your own toilet paper and waterless hand cleaner/sanitizer.
