arriving in bangkok LATE at night...what to do?
My flight arrives in bangkok at like 11 or 12 at night... what would you suggest for sleeping arrangements? I'm a little worried about sleeping in the airport (did it in new zealand but being a female I'm more worried in thailand), but I also know that public transit can sometimes be hard to come by at midnight.
Any suggestions?

Friend's of mine crashed at the Bangkok Airport on their way to Kathmandu (their flight to Kathmandu was delayed till next day), with no probs. But there were a couple of them..so I don't know how safe if would be on your own...I'd be tempted to night there though, if it was me...

I arrived at that hour when I was in Bangkok and there was no problem to catch a cab, in fact I had to wait in a huge line. I would book a hotel around Kho San road and get a good night sleep.

Thanks for the input guys!
I actually checked out the airport website and aside from listing a hotel that charges ridiculous prices because it's attached to the airport.. there are a few competitively priced places with free airport transfers less than 5 minutes from the airport so I might go for those so I can get a good night's sleep before braving the streets of bangkok solo.
Thanks again.. only 23 days til I start my adventure.. can't wait!

Khao San Road, should provide you with plenty of options to check on the web and even reserve. Compared to North America accommodation is quite cheap in Thailand. Also Khao San road is busy till the wee hours of the night, and English is spoken but almost all the vendors there.

Well, a trip to the Kao San Rd is about 350-400B each way + cost of the hotel.
It's not a big issue to find a cab at anytime in Thailand or even a hotel, but some good places might be booked so you might want to prebook. Also if you just want to walk around, Kao San Rd and surroundings is extremely busy at that time and you can easy spend 2 hours just walking around, eating.

I'm going to be arriving in Bangkok around 11pm the day before my tour starts. I just booked a room at a hostel right nearby. It was cheap, I'll have my own room, they already contacted me about my check-in time, and they even gave me a card to print out and give to my taxi driver with the address in Thai.
I'm going at the end of June...hopefully all goes well!
