Hi Em

I'm booked on the 5th Sept 13 Absolute Peru. There are 6 in my party - all from the UK & all pretty old! Haven't done anything quite so challenging before - what about you?

Hi

I'm going with my friend so that's 8 of the spaces accounted for! We did Kilimanjaro last year which was tough! Really looking forward to this trip :D
We're also going from UK and should be arriving on 4/9 - see you there !

Hi Shirl & John
Good to hear you're on the trip & look forward to meeting you.
I think I would add the yellow fever vaccination to your list. I don't think it's compulsory but most travel websites recommend it if you are going into the Amazon Jungle. The cover lasts for 10 years so you don't need to repeat it if you decide to take more trips outside Aus!
We haven't decided yet whether to take anti-malarials ( Malerone ) for the Amazon part of the trip. Do you know yet if you will take them?

Hi there:
We did the Amazon with Peru Panorama in 2011. We didn't take malerone - having taken it recntly for Zambia. We didn't have any mosquitoes to speak of - but slept under our netting and slathered on Deet during walks in the jungle. You will have an awesome time. If you want to see my blog about the trip go to http://excellentadventures-karin.blogsp ... label/Peru

Hi s&j

We have taken malerone before without any problems but by the sound of it we may not need it for this trip. We have some left over from a trip to Nepal last year so we will probably take it with us & decide when we are there. Likewise we had rabies jabs (3!) for India a few years ago but not sure if they would still be effective. Even if your are fully immunised for rabies you still need to have another if you get bitten - so might not bother but will speak to our doctor to check.

little nervous on the whole money thing too, i guess we will work it out as we go and thats what the guide is for. xxx

Hi s&j

Professional travellers?? I really don't think so - OK we may have done a couple of trips but don't forget we are at least 10 years older than you!! Feel free to ask any questions you want - not sure we will have any answers but it's always good to talk.

Hi
Looking forward to the trip and not long now!
We have had the yellow fever jabs for previous trips and also had malarone several times with no issues - not had the rabies vac so will look into that. Looking at the 'malaria maps' online we seem to travel along the line that recommends having anti- malarial/ not required!!!!
Shirley / John when do you arrive? We are getting there on 4/9 and staying at the departure hotel from then - I know roger and his group aren't in until 5/9.

Will be good to meet everyone :)
