'Pay as you go' cards in South America?

Postby trixi » Tue Dec 18, 2012 2:33 pm

Hi Everyone,

I have booked an Inca Heartland tour and also an 'In search of Iguassu' tour for January. The total I will spend in South-America will be around 7-8 weeks. I was wondering if a 'pay as you go' phone card exists in South-America and if it is worth getting one for 2 months?
Or should I just use my regular UK provider?

Thanks a lot for your replies! :)

I don't know for sure about South America...but you may have to get different sim cards for different countries.

Don't forget in the UK a lot of handsets (particular iPhone!) are locked to the provider- you would need to get it unlocked before you go if that is the case.
