Torres del Paine hike ( End of Earth) hiking boots or shoes?

Hi,
I just wanted to know, based on the experience of the travellers here- would it be enough to wear hiking shoes rather than hiking boots for the Torres del Paine hike in the End of Earth Tour?
I'm trying to pack as light as possible and if it's not necessary to wear the hiking boots, I would rather wear my hiking shoes for the trek.

Is up to you, but I believe is better to wear boots, specially if you plan to walk on the glaciar. You will need crampons and for that you will need your hiking boots. Also teh terrain is such that hiking boots are nice. Good luck

I'm doing this trip in February and I'm having the same dilemma. I am travelling S.A for months in total and for my other trips hiking shoes are fine and so i am undecided whether to take boots just for End of The Earth?? Or will this just be added weight and space taken up in my pack?

When is your trip? and have you decided yet?

Hey Jen,
I've decided to use use my low cut hiking shoes as I'll be travelling SA for 5 weeks- and I'm bringing ankle support just incase. Im doing the Dec 24th trip !
