Taxis from the Airport in Rio

Postby scottyw » Sat Oct 08, 2011 12:49 pm

I am a lone traveller and I have a flight arriving in Rio International from London Heathrow late at night. This is my first time in South America and given the time of night I am arriving I have looked into arranging a transfer from the airport to my Hostel in Copacabana but the quotes ive been getting are £50 which seem very expensive. Wondering if anyone could offer me some advice regarding the taxis from the Airport...Is it best to book in advance or are there some fairly reasonable fixed price taxis available in arrivals?

Hi Scott,

No need to book in advance. You can use the pre-paid taxi stands in the arrival hall which costs around USD35-50 and it's easy and convenient.

You will love South America and also do check out the posts for more info and advice.
