Postby kcwalker » Sat Feb 23, 2008 12:34 pm

Just wanted to get more info from folks who might have gone to Crete in the summer. I've heard its extremely hot so I am a bit worried but the trip sounds fantastic! Any tips? Thanks!

I'm moving your post to the Europe forum where you are more likely to hear from others who have been to Crete during the summer months.

I did the Crete hiking and kayaking last October and it was amazing. It was still 25-30 degrees (celcius) every day, but the night that you spend between the days of hiking is up fairly high and was much cooler.

I have been in Crete a few years ago in May. It was terribly hot (# 35C°) and sunny everywhere 8) but hopefully could take profit of the great views and pink laurels. Apparently, I was told that they are all burnt in September (cooler month) - after summertime.
Considering you plan kayaking as well, you should stand the high temperatures.
And who knows, given the weird seasons we are facing these years, you would enjoy nice T° with cool air!
By the way, enjoy your trip! :)
