Iceland Explorer

Hi there, I'm currently doing some research on average temps in Iceland during the summer months and am having a difficult time finding information on what temps to expect. The tour I'm on starts in late Aug.

Also, anyone who has been to Iceland, any reccomendations on what to do in Rekyjavik? Thank you!

Hi jm123,

By now you should've been on your tour!! I was oh so close to booking it with G, I still may, but at the moment the plan is to hire a car and self-drive it with a friend in September. What did you think of the tour? Visit all the places you wanted to go when you researched the country??

A little late to the thread here, but expect cool in summer and frozen in winter. In summer the Sun does, in fact, set, but only just, so it stays light all night. In winter the Sun does, in fact, come up, but only just, so it stays bloody cold all day.

Over the last 12 months, Keflavik (the airport) has always got up to at least -4C, once got up to 23C and on average got up to 8C during the day, always went at least down to 12C, once went down to -8C and on average went down to 3C at night, had a total of 456mm of rain and saw windspeeds from 0 to 142km/h.

142km/h? That's got to be an error. The graph looks more like 60km/h.

August last year was cool to comfortable during the day and chilly to cool at night, with 13mm of rain, warmer and drier than August 2013.
