LA to cuba? Anyone flown Areomexico, Cuba or Copa?

Im looking at doing a Cuba tour in Feb. I currently work for an airline in Australia so am using my staff travel to LA, this is the closest it will get me to Cuba.

From there I am trying to figure out my best way down.

Looks like from LA I can go Areomexico in combination with Cubana air... but bit worried about connections on this and heard of big delays and cancellations with Cubana.

Ive looked at Copa Airlines and at the moment i think im leaning more towards this.

I looked at options from miami, vancouvour and toronto.. it all seems much the same.

Has any one got any experiences with any of these airlines?

If you are planning on connecting from Canada, have you thought of West Jet? They fly to Varadero and from there it is a bus/taxi ride to Havana. I am planning on going there in March and will be connecting through Toronto using Westjet. Very reliable and dependable airlines...I no, I don't work for them!

I did a Aeromexico Altanta-Cancun many many years ago. If memory serves me correctly it connected with a Delta flight from London. I don't remember there being any problems. Both me and my baggage arrived safe and sound both ends.

I've flown Areomexico to Mexico City from Vancouver and onward to Lima with LAN and they were fine and quite enjoyable. No connection problems with luggage.
