Mexico Ancient Civilizations: Which direction ?
Hi out there, anyone done this trip ?
I'm thinking of doing it next february/march, but I have to decide in which direction I should do it.
From Cancun to Mexico City or from Mexico City to Cancun.
I'm not really the beach type, but it could be nice to spend a couple of days after two weeks of travelling, but Mexico City has probably much to offer and to see.
So what would you do ?

I'd save the beach for the end too -- I'd be way too hyper to enjoy it starting out. That said, there's a lot more to do that just chill out near Cancun. Check out the ruins at Tulum and Coba and find yourself a cenote to swim in. There are a lot of cool birds in that area too. I saw great birds at Coba, including squirrel cuckoo and black-headed trogon, a close relative of the resplendant quetzal. Yucatan jays too, if I remember correctly.

I go the Mexico City to Cancun route. You'll have more energy for Mexico City in the beginning. Plus by the time you get to Cancun, you'll want to relax a little and there are great places to relax and sight see around the area.
I'd rather be traveling. Cala, Travel Insurance Advisor
