Trip to Mexico and cuba....need support please!!
Hey everyone,
me and a friend are going to mexico and cuba in the summer. would really appreciate any ideas/suport or suggestions regarding: how much do things cost?
where to stay in Havanna, cancun, playa del carmen.
Is there much to do in cancun or are we better visiting local areas?
where to go/what to do in havanna?
or anything that you think might help us!!
thanks a lot.

I didn't find things terribly cheap nor expensive in Cuba, they were on par with what you would pay back home.

Hi there - I didn't much like Cancun and much preferred Playa del Carmen - but both are very touristy.
In Playa I stayed in La Rana Casada which I liked - it was only a couple of blocks from the beach and the main strip.

Ahhhhh Cuba, a good area to stay is Old Havana known as Habana Vieja...I stayed at two hotels, Tejadillo (great mojitos) and Beltran de Santa Cruz and would recommend both.
In Havana there's alot of plazas...where you have Cathedrals, churches, museums, restaurants. It's great to just walkaround and take it all in....from the buildings to the people to the cars (yes a major highlight for most).
Happy Travels!

I love the caribbean side of mexico and my favourite non-touristy, safe and inexpensive place to visit is Isla Mujeres; It's a little island just a 20 minute ferry ride from Cancun. They have wonderful beaches, snorkelling, great restaurants and it is VERY safe! I've done both Playa and Cancun and Isla is my favourite place hands down! I've stayed at The Royal Playa and even though it was a 5 star experience, nothing compared to Isla. Rent a golf cart for the day to tour the island, stop off at the many beaches and little restaurants along the way and I'm sure you will love it.
Been to Varadero only and it was beautiful; but again I was in an AI resort so I didn't get to experience the real Cuba. I'm hoping to get there soon!

If you like Mayan ruins, don't miss Tulum (on the ocean) and Coba (rent a bike to explore). I haven't been there, but there is some kind of monkey preserve between Playa del Carmen and Coba. Swimming in a cenote (underground lake) is a must do.
