Mayan sun mosquitos

Postby 2kiwis » Mon Aug 25, 2014 1:24 am

Hi we are leaving on Mayan Sun southbound 13 September and wondering whether they provide mosquito nets in the hotels we stay in?

Yes I would also love to know the answer to this and more generally what the mosquito situation is like on the Mayan sun tour - I tend to get bitten quite a lot so am a bit worried about the risk of dengue fever. Thanks!

I went on the Mayan Sun a few years ago and I think only one of the places we stayed had mosquito nets in the rooms/cabins. That said, I can't recall that I was much bothered by mosquitoes on this trip - I'd brought my own mosquito netting, but never used it. I went in January, though, and things might be different other times of the year. However, one place in Guatemala half our group (including me) got bitten by sand flies, and the itching kept me awake at night. So I'd look out for those just as much as the mosquitoes!
