Hello!

My name is Hava and I'll be traveling with my friend Jocelyn on this trip come November! We are both in our mid-twenties and are from Orange County, CA and Las Vegas, NV respectively.

We're both excited to take a break from work and do some exploring!

Very cool :) It's nice to "meet" you Anja!

Have you done other GAdventures tours in the past? This will be my first!

I will arrive in the hotel in the night 4th to 5th so I will have the 5th to explore the city a bit before meeting up with the guide ... I am really looking forward to this tour. :)

We will be arriving earlier in the day on November 5. I wish we had more time to spend. I would love to see the city more!

I'm so excited for all of the different excursions! I am all about anything involving the water.

Hi ! yes I am also looking forward to all the excursions. There are quite a lot of boot-tours and snorkel-trips ... which can be booked. I would also like to see the cave which is mentioned - Actun Tunichil Muknal cave. I love boot-tours and of course anything to do with the sea :) , as we only have Mountains and lakes in Austria.

Woohoo! Another Californian!

My friend Jocelyn and I won't get there until afternoon on the 5th. I'm guessing we'll just be traipsing around the city a bit before the orientation that night!

What do you guys plan on doing in Antigua before the tour officially starts?

Hi I'm Alex, I'm from England, but don't really live there anymore as nowadays I work overseas around Europe for a large travel company as an overseas manager, so managing to slot this tour in between the couple of weeks I have off between my Summer and Winter seasons. I've done quite a few of these backpacker style tours over the years with other companies around Europe, Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, but his will be my first time to the Americas so really looking forward to it. I'm arriving into Antigua late on the 3rd, but will be around 4th if people are up for exploring, or a beer (so long as I'm not too jet lagged ) looking forward to meeting everyone....Fun Times :-)

Woo - we're only a week away! I'm so excited!

Question for all of you - are you all bringing duffel or backpack type luggage to carry your belongings in? I currently only own a standard wheeled luggage case and am trying to decide whether it is worth it for me to get one of those fancy backpacking backpacks.

What do you guys think?

Hi Hava,

Personally there are pros and cons to both having used both at some point. Nowadays though I use a backpack, although i have done one of these style tours with a case before

Backpack - pros are, easier to carry over rough terrain, up and down stairs etc, lighter, usually have pockets so you dont have to open the whole backpack to get to small items out, generally more durable. The cons are, can be heavy on your back if walking long distances, not as secure as a case, not as easy to get stuff out, and doesnt offer as much protection for breakable souveniers, electric items etc.

Case - With wheels its quicker and easier to move around places that have decent pavements, if an enclosed case usually offers more protection, easier to get stuff in and out of, easier to keep clothes flat. Cons are harder to carry, transport over rough terrain or places where there are not smooth surfaces, harder to lug on and off transport, not as durable, cases are only usually secured by a zip which if that breaks you are screwed,

Hope this helps, see you next week

Alex
