Adelaide to Darwin - Sleeping Bag?

Postby billywig_99 » Sun Nov 24, 2013 12:36 am

Hi all,
I'm looking at doing the Adelaide to Darwin tour in May next year and I note you need a sleeping bag. Does anyone know what rating is recommended for that time of year? I've done some googling and only seem to be getting general or conflicting information. I already have a 0°C rated bag, just not sure if I need something warmer.
Thanks in advance :-)

I too am doing that trip in January and wonder if gadventures has a rental bag system or do we have to purchase one or carry one with us.

According to Duffman (who is one of the best guides or CEOs on this continent!), you'll be fine with your bag.

Ooops, duplicate post. Seriously, you'll be fine, maybe even a little warm.

So, to repeat Sue's question, must you bring your own sleeping bag /sheet or can one be rented? I'd rather not have to cart one along as it's the only time in 2 month trip I'll need it.

Some of the people on the trip were able to rent bags, a couple others bought cheap ones at our first stop outside Adelaide. I wasn't aware of the rental system (I'd rather use my own bag anyway) but Duffman had about six bags in the back of the bus. Talk to your G Adventures reservation agent and ask him/her to make a note that you want to rent a bag so the CEO has enough. In all honesty, I doubt you'll need one in January -- I only used a sleeping bag once on the November trip. There are only a few times you'll use swags and the swag itself is enough cover.
