Air New Zealand South Pacific Airpass

Wondering if anyone has looked into this pass which enables travel form New Zealand to places like Norfolk Island, Fiji, Tonga, Tahiti, Cook Islands, Vanuatu, Samoa, New Caledonia and Australia. It also includes flights within New Zealand.

Can anyone comment on if the prices for the segments on this pass are a good deal? Or can you usually find cheaper flights last-minute? (Airpass needs to be bought ahead of time, but can be added to afterwards)

Not sure about that pass Red.Guess it will depend on how many places you're going to.
If just a couple of destinations, then may be better to plan the trip yourself using their fare finder here, choose the 'show options across a week' and look for the cheapest seats for each leg.

For NZ domestic travel, go to their Grabaseat site and keep checking in there.
There is a site ,I can't remember what it is, that you can register with the flights you're interested in, and it sends you an alert for any special offers on that, as soon as the airlines posts them.
The other thing about that pass, is that it will limit your options, and you won't be able to look for deals on Virgin Pacific,Pacific Blue .
I think personally, keep flexible but keep searching.
House of Travel have a new farefinder system.Seems good, from our end anyway..

Thanks Jim....looks like a good site to keep in mind.
Air NZ is easier to book and provides points....just collecting ideas at this point....
New Caledonia, Cook Islands and Tasmania are the leading considerations for add-ons to NZ right now, if time permits....

Cooks are marvellous. And plan to get out to Aitutaki.Beautiful.You may find that there are air routes to NZ via Rarotonga from San Fran or LA.
New Caledonia very expensive as cost of living linked to France.
Haven't been to Tasmania but would be great for scenery and trekking. We have an inbound Friendship Force exchange next month from Hobart so will be hosting a couple from there. But will be same weeks as our Aussie outback jaunt so may have to cancel that yet.

Problem with our airlines down here is very little competition because it's a small market. And they operate on the principle that to get the best seats, you book very early.Last minute decisions and you find only expensive seat classes left.
Funerals can be very expensive to attend!
