NUAA130914 : LA to LA, Best of the West - 14th Sept-28 2013.

Postby cultofpersonality » Sat May 25, 2013 5:42 pm

Are you joining this trip?

If so say hi, be good to familiarise with fellow travellers before departing.

Also if anybody is in LA earlier as I arrive on the 13th to get an extra day, this is mainly to visit and do the tour round Dodger Stadium, if anybody is interested in joining feel free to tag along, if not a meet up before hand and a little exploring(minus the tents) before our big adventure isn't out of the question, even if it is to just find the largest ice cream in California.

Look forward to hearing from you

We are booked on this tour too! There are two of us, we are from the UK and are super exited to go on an American adventure!!

Where are you travelling from? We fly in from London, think we arrive on the day of the tour.

We're with you on the Ice cream...and hot dogs and just all of the food really!! :D

Hey!

Think we'll pass on the scorpion! Lol!

Yes we've both travelled a fair bit, mostly Australia and Asia and a few places in Europe.
We actually both did part of our Thailand travelling with G adventures and they were really good, really flexible and organised, it's so nice to not have to spend precious time planning it all out! How about you?

It's tricky to say which we are looking forward to the most as the whole trip looks amazing! I think Yosemite is up there though along with the Grand Canyon! Can't wait to see the enormous Californian redwoods too!

What's your thoughts on the camping? It's going to be interesting camping out with the yogi bears!

Oh no.....really?
I was gonna do it with some Paprika to give it a kick or would that be Sting!!
That all sounds awesome, I'll look forward to hearing about your adventures so far, especially Australia as that is somewhere I want to go one day myself.
Good to hear you've experienced G adventures before and there good at what they do.

If this goes well and I enjoy America I want to just hire a camper and cruise around one day.

Travel is very limited Austria, France, Gran Canairia, and my last trip in 2008 Dubai, amazing place.

Camping......Love it!!!
I hail from Devon so its been in my blood from day one, obviously gonna be a lil diff in USA but its gonna be great sitting round the camp fire listening to others stories and going thru the pics of the day & if it makes you guys feel better I'll nominate myself on bear patrol, how's that sound?

Ok it's a deal! I have a California lonely planet guide that tells you exactly how to deal with both bear and mountain lion attacks so you should be fine!
We've read that we all chip in with the cooking etc...I'd advise you to pass on the night its Katie's turn to cook! Lol
Are you taking a sleeping bag or buying one out there?

Ohhhh love it in Devon...we've both been to Croyde a couple of times. The closest beach to where we live is Skegness which (in case you dont already know) is chav central!

Is it bad that we really want to do the VIP limo tour in Vegas!?

Whoa...whoa.....whoa........WHOAH!!

Nobody said anything about Lions of the mountain species, there we are talking of just bears and you throw lions in there, I'm gonna need a bigger stick....lol.
Ahhh poor Katie, sure she'll be fine, if not its Oreos back at my tent. No offence K.

I'm not sure on sleeping bag, it takes alot of room in bag, but you dont know what your gonna get the other end? What were your guys thoughts?

Croyde is brill, well all that area really, get up there from time to time, cant say ive ever been to skegness tho...sorry!!

Of course it isnt, I want to do anything and everything while there, and the limo sounds great fun, are you up for karaoke in vegas?

We are thinking of getting one there, the joining instructions say you can and I guess they aren't going to be rubbish if they say that....we hope!

I don't know about Karaoke...Katie's singing skills are about as good as her cooking! 😀 Def up for that, better practice my poker face for the casinos too!

Just realised that we don't know your name!! Do you work/are you studying etc?? Are you travelling alone? Sorry if we seem nosey...we are! Lol

Hey gwirlys, How you guys doing?

To be honest the whole not taking a sleeping bag would save a load of room in backpack.

Hotels at Heathrow sorted, coach travel and ESTA done, I've officially been accepted into the united states of America, have you guys sorted yours yet?

Ahhhh come on, if you don't wanna sing on your own I'll duet, lol.
Do you know how to play poker? I may need some practice between LA and Vegas other wise not even my poker face will save me!!!! Love a bit of blackjack tho.
Vegas is gonna be awesome, it all is.

My apologies I haven't introduced myself, I'm Steve currently an assistant manager and yes this is trip is me going solo(is it still that even tho there are 12 others?)
What do you guys do work wise?

90 odd days to go......................

Hi Steve!

93 to be precise! :) we've even started holiday shopping!

Yes funnily enough we sorted our ESTAs last week too (yay!)

Our joining hotel is in a bit of a random area! Never realised quite how big and spread out LA is!!

We are both managers, one in finance one in retail....both equally as stressful so we r looking forward to getting away from it all!!

Have NOOOO idea how to play any card games to be honest, snap is about all we can manage! Might just stick to the slot machines!

(24 Beeps here)........89 Days to go.....

Hope you've both had a good weekend,
Good to hear your Estas are sorted sand your entry into the united states is confirmed also.

Yes I've done some this weekend, new bag and travel pillow. What have you guys been purchasing?

Yeah I noticed that too wen looking it up, think because its close to airport so not hard to get to and has its own shuttle bus to the hotel which you ring to get, but if you like seeing as I'm in LA already I can meet you guys from airport and help you to hotel, up to you but want to put the offer out there.

Yes I know what you mean about stress and it will be so good to get away for a long period forget the UK and enjoy every moment the US has to offer.

SNAP!!!!!!! It is then, even I can manage that one.
I'm hoping on one of those giant slot machines to have PIC with, are you girls big photo takers?

......(BEEP).....(BEEP)........

Good Afternoon Gwirlys,

Hope you've had a good week.

The beeping, lol, is meant to be something reminicent of '24' the TV show, if you have never seen then that was a complete failure of a joke!!!! Sorry.
Basically its a countdown and we are now on 76 days...........................

ha ha, you r gonna spend the week running up to leaving trying every which way but loose trying to get every item in your bags, but I warn you now, you are going to have to make that difficult decision im afraid of what NOT to take!!! lol

Here is the info taken from site:

After arriving at the Los Angeles International Airport and claiming your luggage, Hacienda Hotel guests may call 800.421.5900 and press ‘”0” for the hotel operator to obtain pick up instructions. The Hacienda Hotel shuttles do not run automatically.

Hope that helps.

Thats good to here your a snappy snapper, I usually have been rubbish, but gonna get a new camera for trip and determined to take as many as poss, be such a waste else, gonna be seeing and doing so much i dont think my head will retain much esle.
Plus it will be great in the eves going thru looking at each others pics.

Hiya! Hope you are well!

I seeeee, never seen 24 so wasted on us! Lol!

50 days!! Yay! Even better, 32 work days!!

We have a dilemma! Are you taking hiking shoes/boots? We can't work out If we'll need them or not, we obviously want to explore the parks and stuff but boots are pretty bulky to pack!

How close???? Can you feel the excitement bubbling......
It's gonna be AWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

Totally wasted there with the '24', I will try better next time on the lols.

Well you are asking the wrong person i'm afraid, I love my walking boots and they are definetly going with soft shoes & flip flops in reserve.
Some of the terrain is gonna be pretty rough and harsh but depends how far you wanna walk and what your lil tosies are most comfortable in, i reckon you would get away with a strong pair of trainers tho, the hikes say there not gonna be too bad and ok for all abilities, FYI If i'm wrong this doesnt come back on me and your guys dangle me from the Grand Canyon!!!!!

This trip is gonna be THE BEST IN THE WORLD!!
