Hi
Thanks for your reply , yes we are booked on the same trip
I am returning to San Jose on the 17th of Jan from the active Costa Rica trip and will hopefully meet the group at the hotel in time for our first meal together.
I am looking forward to the trekking , the undisturbed wildlife and the basic accommodation.
I have trekked in Nepal,Morocco and Thailand using similar types of accommodation.
This is my first trip to the American continent, I cannot speak much Spanish but I can understand the written words as many are similar to French or Latin.I am arriving late evening on the 5th and have booked my first nights accommodation in Alajuela , and will use the airport shuttle bus to San Jose the next morning ( it only costs the equivalent of $2 )

G Trips are great!!

I also did some trekking before, Nepal, Patagonia, Peru, Cameroon,...

Really looking forward to the waterfall rappelling!

On my last trip I met a girl who did the trip already. I saw her pictures and is looks very nice.

Still 4 months till departure 😄

I have never tried waterfall rappelling , but many years ago I did some abseiling in North Wales. I am looking forward to seeing the unique wildlife and the canyoning.

I spoke to GA last night only 7 booked on the actve trip and 8 on the trekking.
Enough to have our own transport and guide , but plenty of space to sleep to at the cave and homestays and hopefully in the private transport unless they only use an 8 seater minibus. I will probably be the oldest ( 56 ) on the trip.

Hello,

I just booked the jan 17th trek. This is my first trek and also my first time travelling solo. I am very excited! You both sound quite experienced so any tips on packing/preparing, etc would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,
Alicia

Hi abuetta
Read the detailed trip notes carefully.
Unless you do no sports at all you should find the trek relatively easy.
You are advised to bring a chloroquinone malaria medication ( eg avloclor ) for the very low risk areas in the lowlands, prevention is better than cure so bring a 50% deet based repellent , this will also deter the sandflies and the midges ( no see oms ) which are far more likely to bother you.
Bring a medium rucsac ( approx 35l ) with a rain cover for the walks and cave trip, a dry bag or large sealable polythene bag for change of clothes and some smaller bags for your phone and money for the rafting trip.
I will hopefully meet you all at the hotel the first evening as I am returning to San Jose the same day from the active Costa Rica trip.

Hi Alicia!!

Nice that you will be on our trip as well! Don't bother about travelling on your own, I do it all the time, it's the best way to get to know the other people around you!'.

Still 8 weeks to go before we leave, really looking forward...

Where are you from?

Greetz

Hi Marlene!

I am from Toronto :) How about you?

Also, this is probably a very silly question for you guys, but in the hotels will I need an adapter to charge electronics or is the voltage and everything the same?

Looking forward to getting some sun and adventure!

Hi Alica,

I'm from Antwerp (Belgium).

Electricity in Costa Rica is 110v (american style). I know we Europeans do need an adapter but I don't know how your Canadian electricity looks like...

I'm counting days now till we leave. Are you planning some extra days as well or are you arriving on saturday? I'm flying to Washington first, stay there for 1 day and then head to San Jose. I will be arriving early afternoon so hopefully in time for the meeting. Did you travel with G before?

Just checked the trip, there are only 6 places available that means that more people booked the trip than just the 3 of us. I know there's also another guy from Antwerp that booked the trip. That makes 4 already 😀😀

Thanks Marleen, that's great. I will be arriving on the 15th and staying at the same hotel for two additional nights.

When I booked I was told that there were people from Australia and Ireland also booked!

Should be a great trip! I have never traveled with g adventures so I am looking forward to it :):)
