Galapagos Boats and Towels

Postby bevy » Sun Apr 08, 2007 12:23 am

I am going on the 6 day Galapagos tour. Are towels supplied on the boats, or do I have to bring my own? I am trying to work out what size towel to bring as I will also be travelling through Peru.

Thanks!

I think I remember that there were towels in the bathrooms for use on the boat. you need to bring one to use when swimming/snorkeling from the beach some days.

We just got back on February. The yhave towels in the room for indoor use and give you towels to use for snorkelling and swimming.

My husband and I will be on the Comfort Class boat in May, and we've been told by GAP that there will not be beach towels for us on board. Can someone from GAP clarify this for us here on the message boards?

It would be really nice to not need to pack a towel.

Similarly, we have heard mixed things about whether there will be wet suits. Some people posting on the forums have said there were wet suits available to use or rent, but GAP tells us that there will not be wet suits onboard.

So, does anyone have info about whether towels or wetsuits are available on the Comfort Class boat? (Or, any boat for the sake of other travelers?)

HI there,

There are no wetsuits on board the yachts unless an entrepreneurial cook brings a couple on to rent, though this is not the norm, if you are arriving a day early, there are places to rent them in Quito...your hotel will help you with the locations. Of course there is always the chance that a particular store is sold out or doesn't have your size, if it is imperative to your trip, then bring your own...just to clarify, there is no scuba diving just daily opportunities for snorkeling.

Hope that helps, as often with travel to developing countries, the answer is rarely a yes or no answer.

Hey VA travellers!
When I went, there were beach towels provided on board, and I've asked a couple of people who have also been there with GAP and they agree. You get towels in your cabin for 'indoor' use, and then another towel for the beach. You can't take the cabin towels with you to the islands but the other ones are there for this purpose.
happy trails!

Thanks for the helpful replies! I bought a wet suit, since I'm cold natured and don't want to miss out on any snorkeling. That's good to know about the towels. It's different than what customer support told me over the phone, but I believe that there would be beach towels. We leave in less than a week. Thanks!
