Argentina Reciprocity Fee

Postby nadscol » Wed Mar 13, 2013 9:14 am

Hi Everyone,

Just a quick question. I'm an Australian doing the Southern Cross trip across south america in May. I have been sorting out visas and such and found something i'm not sure of. I was wondering if anyone knows if i have to pay the "reciprocity fee" for the one day trip to the Argentina side of Iguassu Falls. This is what i have found so far:

When entering Argentine Territory, the nationals of the following countries must pay a "reciprocity fee":

Australia: U$D 100.- (per year)
Canada: U$D 75.- (single entry) or U$D 150 (five entries)
USA U$D 140.-
Or its equivalent in Argentinian pesos. Rates subject to modifications based upon reciprocity.
The payment of this "reciprocity fee" is not a Visa since Argentina does not requiere visa to nationals of the mentioned countrys when traveling for tourism or business purposes.
The Argentina Govermment set this entry fee on equal amounts to those Argentina citizens must pay when requesting a Visa to travel to those countries.
Forms of Payment: Argentine Pesos, United States Dollars, credit/debit cards, Traveller´s Checks.

Any ideas? I don't want to spend $100 if i don't need to!
