Is it possible to break off from a tour?

Postby relyob » Sat Feb 02, 2013 9:39 pm

Hi all,

I'm taking part in the Thailand on a Short string tour in June/July. The tour finishes in Bangkok on Sunday 7th July after an overnight train and ferry from Koh Tao however my flight home from Bangkok isn't till Wednesday and I'm already spending 4 nights in Bangkok before the tour starts so would rather see the islands.

Is it possible for me to instead stay on Koh Tao and get the dates for the ferry/train changed to Tuesday instead as I'd love to spend more time on the island. Has anyone altered aspects of their tour before?

Hi Debs,
it would be best to contact G adventures or your travel agent, i am sure they will be able to let you know if it possible. I have been on a G trip that ended in zanzibar & some people stayed at the beach resort instead of returning to Stone town. You will have to pay for the extra nights accomodation, i am not sure if you will have to pay extra for the ferry & train, which in Thailand would be fairly cheap.

You may not be able to transfer the ferry/train to another date...but you're welcome to leave the tour any time. I've had people on tours want to stay on in an area instead of returning to the start/end city because they've wanted to stay longer, go somewhere else. Your leader will be able to help with advice etc.

I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list
