Wayna Picchu- Absolute Peru

Postby anj.t » Fri Jun 01, 2012 6:08 pm

Hi

I am going on the Absolute Peru trip in september and i wondered if on the four day inca trek you get the option to go up Wayna Picchu? If so do i need to book tickets with you in advance?

Many thanks

You arrive pretty early at Machu Picchu at the end of the hike and have several hours of free time after the guided tour of the site. None of our group opted to climb Huayna Picchu but I think you can go over and choose to climb at the time you arrive. I've heard it can be busy so you might want to do that first, in case there's a lineup, before you wander around Machu Picchu.

Just got back and the two people in our group that went up pre-booked it. I believe they only let 200 people a day go up and was told it's sold out in advance. They loved it by the way!
If it does not bring you joy, why are you doing it?

Everyone in our group was too knackered to go up it after all the hiking to get to MP.
Also I believe it closes if it wet - but check this.
Anything that needs pre-booking just tell your leader that this is want you want and they will sort it out for you no problem, although you arrive well before they open the gates to the coach parties so this would be the time to do it.

We asked our CEO early in the trip and ore-booked the climb.

Those doing the Inca trail couldn't do it because of their arrival time and our departure time. There just wasn't time. Some of us who had done the Lares trek and a few who hadn't trekked did it. They allow 400 people over two start times 7 and 10 I believe.

It did sell out early. I was doing absolute Peru and we booked it in nazca.

Well worth it if you can do it. It takes about an hour to climb. Being terrified of heights and unable to let go of the mountain, I still recommend it.

The only payment they accept online is visa, no MasterCard.
