Participant numbers on tours

Postby kcupp95 » Mon Apr 09, 2012 7:32 am

Hey, I'm booked on one of the Canadian tours for June this year. I was having a look at the tour and it has 9 spots remaining, so I take this to mean that if its a maximum of 13 people there's 4 people (including me) booked on this tour.

Seeing as it's still 2 and a bit months away, is it likely that more people will book on the tour as it gets closer to the date?

As I'm travelling by myself, I was looking forward to having a largish group of people to meet and make friends with, and was wondering how people have found tours where theres only been a small number of people (such as 4 or 5 or even smaller) on them and they're a solo traveller.

I prefer smaller.. lets you go places that a larger group has issues. Easier to hear your CEO, and a more undercover experience.

that's how i see it.

I'm one of those people who plans things out ahead of time...so I'm always surprised at how many people book their trips with only a month or two to go. Sometimes people wait to make sure the trip is guaranteed which usually doesn't happen until 60 days before.

On my last trip I was the 4th person to book and I booked 3 months before so I was expecting a small group...my group size ended up at the max of 13.

There are pros and cons to small and big groups. My smallest was 6 and we had a lot more flexibility because of it (eg. it's easier to get bus, train, boat tickets for 6 instead of 13 so maybe you're given the option of leaving earlier or later to get from point A to B). And with a bigger group, there's more people to meet and hang out with.
