Pre-departure meeting

Postby butterbean » Fri Feb 10, 2012 12:25 am

Hello.

I'm going on the Inca Journey (SPIJ) in March and was wondering on the first day of the tour if there was any pre-tour meeting and if so, what time and where? Its just that I'm doing a tour during the day and won't be back at the hotel until 7pm.

Also, I'll be bringing a small suitcase with me as I'm travelling throughout SA for 2 months....will I have to leave it behind somewhere during the trip and just take a backpack?

Cheers
Bea

You may be able to leave your bag at the starting hotel if your tour comes back to the same hotel.

There are no activities planed on the first day, the time and the location of the meeting will be posted in the lobby of the joining hotel.

Thanks sinecure. I was hoping to roughly know the time of the meeting so if I was going to miss it, I could skip the tour.

Not knowing if the tour is coming back to the hotel is a bit of a problem too as I need to book an airport transfer before I leave. Do G Adentures provide a list of the hotels during our stay on request?

hi Bea,
the pre trip meeting is normaly between 7pm & 8pm. We did stay at the same hotel when we got back to Lima, the G rep will ask you what time you flight is & arrange a taxi for you.
I hiked the inca trail & was given a small duffle bag to take, we left our luggage at the hotel in Cusco & collected it when we got back again if you want to leave your bag there the G rep can arrange this. In the amazon we took our bags with us, they had porters to carry them to the lodge.

Like Mark said they most of the time between 7 and 8pm. But the notice will be up in the hotel when you leave for your tour and you can always leave a note with the front desk to let your CEO know that you won't be there till 7ish.

Hotels change and only your CEO will know for sure what hotels are being used. You can check to see your starting and ending hotels by adding a day online. It should tell you what hotel is selected.

If you need any more assistance please let us know.

Hi butterbean,

Since your tour starts and ends in Lima, you should be staying in the same hotel in Lima at the start and end. Your trip notes list this as Hotel Britania Miraflores. If you have extra luggage you don't want to take with you on your trip you can probably store it at the Lima hotel...but you may want to call G Adventures and double check.

Almost every tour I've been on, the pre-trip meeting starts at 7ish and is somewhere in the hotel. You'll see the exact start time when you check in to the hotel. Personally, I wouldn't skip out on something I really wanted to do for the pre-trip meeting, but leave a note at reception for the tour leader giving him/her the head's up. If you're a bit late you'll just join it when you get there. Usually the group goes for a bite to eat and a drink or two after the meeting.

If you want an airport transfer at the beginning of your tour to get to the hotel, you need to book it before you get there. Your tour leader will help you arrange for transport back to the airport at the end of the trip, or the hotel will arrange it through trusted drivers.

You'll get the list of hotels during the pre-trip meeting, sometimes they change depending on vacancies...
