AGCA - Colours of Asia - How much money to take?

Postby mochi87 » Wed Feb 01, 2012 2:56 pm

I'm going on the colours of Asia trip, I was wondering how much money should I take for each country.

I will be in Singapore 3 days before the trip starts, there's about 8 days in Malaysia and 4 days in Bangkok roughly

p.s. i have thought about getting one of those travel cards but want to see my options.

Any input would be much appreciated

Thanks x

hi,
spending money varies from person to person, how many items you purchase, how much you drink etc, the places you mention there is no problem using ATM Machines, check with your bank first but i have never had a problem using them. Take some US Dollars cash for back up which you can exchange for local currencies.

Hi

Singapore is a lot more expensive than most other SEA countries while Malaysia and Thailand are quite inexpensive. As markmol pointed out, spending varies from person to person depending on what/where you eat or drink, how much additional sightseeing you want to do in Singapore and Thailand, and the souvenirs (if any) you want to buy.

I know it's a real overkill, but I tend to allow $100 a day when I travel. I've never spent that amount of money (lucky to spend $50 a day) but it means I have no worries. Also, as markmol pointed out, ATMs are everywhere just make sure you draw out a sizeable amount because the bank fees can be quite expensive.

I did AGCA 18 months ago and had a fantastic trip.
