Cabin facilities on board M/S Expedition

Postby geoffp » Sat Dec 31, 2011 7:39 am

We are due to embark on the Spirit of Shakleton trip on 12th Jan and we are scratching our heads trying to reuce weight for the internal flight within Argentina. To assist can you tell us what facilities are privided in the cabin? I presume towels are available but what about soap/shower gel/shampoo. I know it sounds a bit petty but every gram we save eases the worry of arguements at check in. Any advice would be appreciated.

There is a body gel dispenser in the showers in T4 cabins, not sure about T1-3, but you can buy sundries in downtown Ushuaia if you're trying to save on ounces. Towels are indeed provided.

The main thing you can do to reduce your luggage weight is bring just a few changes of lightweight layerable clothing and forget the heavyweight sweaters and long underwear. Temperatures should not go much below freezing (0 C/32 F) if that as you are surrounded by a vast body of water. I found I didn't touch my sweaters or polypro underwear at all. You really don't need more than 4 sets of clothing (1 to wear, 1 to clean, 1 to dry, 1 in case of emergency) and you can change out the combinations to give yourself a variety of looks.
