Affordabletours.com $50 discount?

Postby jbris026 » Tue Sep 20, 2011 12:49 pm

Hello again,

Has anyone ever booked a GAP trip through www.affordabletours.com? I consulted their website and they offered me a quote for a GAP tour at $50 lower than the price on the GAP website. Is this a legitimate booking site?

Thanks!

Do check out the 'Find an Agent' section on this site:

Affordable Tours is on the list so I would say it's legit so do book with them if it's easier.

Thanks for the link TravelFun -- I'd never tried the Find An Agent section before (honestly, hadn't realized GAP even had a feature for that).

I have heard a few mixed reviews about this site, but the trend has actually been slightly positive even though they don't seem to have much of a marketing budget. There are some other localized sites that have similar deals as well. We found a good discount on a group of Salt Lake city hotels for our upcoming trip this summer. Can't wait to do some hiking in the Rocky Mountains, it has been a dream of mine for some time.

I've booked two trips using Affordable Tours - Western Guatemala Highlights and Costa Rica Kayaking Adventure. Although I haven't yet been on the Costa Rica trip yet I've been very impressed with them. Cindy has contacted G Adventures on my behalf to get answers to questions. I got the trip vouchers for the first trip 3 - 4 weeks before leaving. And best of all I saved some money. For both trips, when you click on "get lower price" an email gets generated to an agent. The quote came in 5% lower than advertised. G Adventures also honours the 5% discount for past travellers who have filled out the trip evaluation form. So I saved $50 plus 10% as well as small disounts for an extra hotel night and airport transfer. I don't know if the extra discount would be the same with the more expensive tours but $50 is better than nothing.
