pre-tour and post-tour accomodations

Hello all,

I am curious to know about the pre-tour and post-tour hotel accommodations. The prices are listed for standard-single and standard twin/double. What is the difference between these two? What is the best for a solo traveler? Will a single person have to pay an extra fee?

Usually you pay more for a single than a twin but the implication is that you may get a roommate in the twin. A double would be two people sharing one large bed -- you likely can't book that (intentionally) as a solo traveler. Book the single if you know you want to be alone and don't mind paying a little extra for the privilege. Book the twin if you don't mind sharing (or even look forward to meeting someone as a roomie). GAP will ONLY assign you a roommate of the same sex.

I think that if you are travelling as a single then you have to pay for a single room for pre- and post-tour accommodation.
For the rest of the tour you can choose whether to pay extra to have a room to yourself for the entire tour, or pay the 'normal' tour cost and share with someone. Of course there would also be occasions where you pay the 'normal' cost and get to have a room to yourself at no extra cost if you are the only single.

You only have to pay the supplement if you specify a single (vs. twin-share) room. Single is not the same as solo. I have booked pre-trip accommodations with GAP as twin-share (no extra supplement) and had instances where I had a roommate and where I didn't.
