EV10P Galapagos plus Isabela "Add-on" confusion

Postby happy hoatzin » Wed Jul 20, 2011 1:06 pm

Hi Globe trotting Gurus!
I'm traveling to the Galapagos on the 10 day Voyager G1 trip that starts Dec. 20th (EV10P). SO EXCITED!
THEN I've booked the 4 day Isabela Island "Add-on".
I need a clear explanation for something I just REALLY don't understand. I'm perplexed.
Here is my question: WHY do I NOT get a night back in Quitos at the GAP hotel (Hotel Rio Amazonas) when I fly back to Quito after the extension like I would have if I had just booked the 10 day?
If I was just doing the 10 day G1 I would have this as part of my package. Now it appears I lose that day but my price for the 10 day was not adjusted for the one day now lost when I booked the extension.
Now that I've booked the extension-I lose this part of the original trip.
(I realize I just repeated myself through different wording. I just can't get my head around this.)
Honestly--I feel kinda cheated. I mean, a day of adventure is ...well...a day of adventure!
Also-from a logistics standpoint: It says in the trips "Details" (page 10 -when printed out)

"Please remember that you can leave unnecessary articles in your joining hotel storage room. On arrival day, our customer support will provide you with a special bag of the correct size that you are allowed to bring to the Galapagos. "

well.....see.....I'm not going back to that hotel according to the receptionist (rude) at GAP so ANOTHER question I have is: Where am I to put my luggage? I mean-Where can I store My items that won't fit in the bag to be given me? (hopefully I won't have any. I'm pretty good at packing light)
I'm feeling like my situation has been dismissed on some ground and just plain not thought about at all on another.
Perhaps this stems from the woman I spoke with on the phone having NO time for my inquiries. She seemed irritated that I had the nerve to approach the subject to begin with.
Please-ANY light shed on this will help clear my confusion.
Thank-You,in advance, for your time in this matter.-Happy Hoatzin ;)

I understand what you are saying. I'll see what more I can find out.

Even if you don't get the night at the tour hotel after your extension, you could book that hotel for when you finish your extension have them keep your luggage when you leave for the Galapagos 10-day.

There was apparently a malfunction with the messages that I sent but I'm still trying to get some clarification on this.

Sorry about the delay!

I'm experiencing technical problems so at this point I can only recommend that you call Gap Adventures again to get clarification/confirmation on what you were told.

Hi Happy Hoatzin,

My name is Erin and I work for Gap Adventures. Please email me (erinb@gap.ca) your booking number so that I can look into your enquiry. If you have booked with a travel agent I will provide them with the details so that they can go over it with you, or if you have booked directly with Gap Adventures I will have one of our CEO's (Chief Experience Officers) contact you to go through the booking and answer any additional questions that you may have.

Enjoy your day.

Cheers,
Erin (Western Canada Road Warrior @ Gap Adventures)

Just an FYI
My travel agent spoke to someone different at GAP and was told the night at the hotel IS included.
(Which makes perfect sense)
It would have been nice if the original woman who was so very rude (receptionist?) would have let this inquiry go through to someone who actually new about it.

So glad it worked out! Enjoy your trip. Would love to hear about the Isabel add-on trip when you return -- it's one I've been thinking about.

Buen viaje!
