payment for optional activities

Postby alanna179 » Thu Jul 14, 2011 8:13 pm

I'm leaving on ATRM Roam Bangkok to Singapore pretty soon, and the documents mention USD 200$'s worth of optional activities.

a) Are these really payable in USD or the USD equivalent in the local currency of the activity?
b) Is it payable in one lump sump to the CEO at the beginning of the tour, or do we pay our own tickets as we go
c) If payable to the CEO, is it cash money or can we pay by credit card?

Thank you

I haven't been on this particular trip but...

Generally optional activities are booked when you get to the city they are offered...that way you can decide when you get there what you want to do. If a lot of people in your group want to do the same thing, often the tour leader will arrange to booking. Sometimes you just go off and do it on your own (but your leader will always be there for advice). Payment depends on the activity and country. I imagine in Thailand USD would be widely accepted in most major centres or with most major tourist activities, but others may require local currency (especially the less expensive ones). I generally pay with cash unless it's a big expensive thing being booked through a fairly reputable company.

I haven't been everywhere, but it's on my list
