hostels in thailand

I am planning on travelling to thailand in july but am arriving a few days earlier. Are there hostels nearby the actual hotel to stay at before the check-in date. I am aware that you can book a room for before and after, but i think for financial reasons, i am really trying to spread my budget. any suggestions?

Not been to Thailand yet but ....check this website out for hostels http://www.hostelworld.com read the reviews (there are maps and directions to) and go ahead and book online. I've used this site for years all over the world and its never let me down!
