Hidden costs?

Postby thecakeisalie » Tue Jun 05, 2007 12:32 pm

I hope I put this post in the right place, but here goes...

For the Everest Base Camp trek (ANEA), are all of the transportation costs included in the cost of the trip and local supplement? The dossier says they are unless otherwise noted, but the dossier also has a lot of general information regarding all trips in the region, so I'm not convinced that it is specific for ANEA, and therefore I want to make sure the local flights aren't going to be an extra fee. I'm probably just being paranoid, because GAP's costs are so much lower than competitors it seems too good to be true. But better to find out now than later.

Thanks,
Tom

Extra Costs?

Postby monty » Fri Jun 08, 2007 12:50 pm

Hi Tom,

The price of the trip, $720.00CAD (Local Payment 250.00 USD) is the total cost of the trip including all internal Transportation, accommodation, tour leaders and local guides. The price does not include international airfare or arrival transport to the start hotel where your trip starts. There is a food budget recommended of about $180usd, if you are prone to going out more than others or tend to spend more on food than the "average" person, please adjust your budget accordingly. As well, in destination there will probably some opportunities for spending money on souvenirs as well there is some customary tipping to consider, budget approx 20 - 40USD per week for tipping.

Hope this helps! GAP is cheaper than the average bear on this particular trip and it offers great value for money, depending on where you are flying from the cost of the flight is usually more expensive than the land portion of the trip, but as a fantastic and remote destination begging to be conquered, it is worth the price tag to most who go there!
