End of the earth

hey,
I'm doing the end of the earth trip in nov and on it recommends that i have hiking boots, i'm just wondering if anyone has been on this trip or has any advice about what kind of hiking boots would be best? i have hiking trainers but am wondering if ankle support would be better.
also i have just looked at my terms and conditions and found a medical cert at the back, i asked my travel agent if this needed to be sent before i travel or if it is to be handed in on arrival, they said it wa to be handed in on arrial but didn't seem too sure to be honest!!
would appreciate any advice and roll on nov
