Discover Japan JR passes?

I know that they are included in the price for Discover Japan tour now. Does our group leader have them and will they activate them for us? That may seem like a silly question, but I have to ask. Also, during the Mt. Fuji climb will there be a safe place for us to leave our luggage other then the backpack we take on the climb? Surely we won't have to carry all of our stuff up with us right?

I haven't done this specific trip but...on other trips I've done when we head off for a few days to climb a mountain or on other adventures, our luggage has been kept locked up safe in a hotel or some other place. I imagine you'd only bring a daypack with what you'll need for the climb up the mountain.

Hopefully someone else will be able to give you a more specific answer.
