Maldives Dhoni Cruise (AFMS): snorkelling gear

Postby frankc » Sun Feb 14, 2010 7:58 pm

Hello,

I'm planning to head off on the Maldives dhoni cruise in March this year. I've seen suggestions that snorkelling gear has been available for use by the passengers on at least one cruise in the past, see

viewtopic.php?f=3&t=9047&hilit=snorkel

Could anybody comment on the situation with snorkel gear in general on this cruise? Is there a good selection available? (I'm weighing up whether or not I should bring my own with me.)

TIA

Best regards,

Frank.

Hey Frank,
Last I heard the snorkel gear on the boats is still quite adequate and plentiful for everyone. However, because snorkelling is THE activity of this trip (every day, multiple times a day) ... bringing your own is still my recommendation to ensure proper fit and comfort.

If you don' want to bring it all on planes, you can buy some in Male if you arrive a day or two early. LOTS of shops there and saves having to fly with the gear too.

I'm sure others will weigh in with their opinions too. An added bonus if you bring your own, and have the style that uses booties is that you won't have to worry about walking on rocky/coral beaches in bare feet ;)

Hi Frank,

I have recently returned from this amazing trip! I did in fact take my own snorkeling gear but there were plenty of options available on board. My 6'2" partner was worried about finding fins that would fit properly and he had no problem with the equipment that was on board. If you are in the Toronto area, I am going to be giving a talk on this trip at our Concept Store on February 25 @7pm:

Happy Trails!
