one more water question - funnels?

Postby ed » Mon May 14, 2007 9:37 pm

There's been a lot of discussion of water, but I have to add another question. I'll be camping in E. Africa and then climbing kili, but I assume this is relevant for the Nepal and Peru trips or any where you are getting water boiled in camp rather than bought. I use a platypus with a small opening - hard to pour into from a pot rather than a spigot. Do the cooks/porters have funnels for filling water bottles or should I bring one?

You never really know what your particular camp staff will have or not have with them. Most have tea kettles which will work fine to fill your container.

I'd recommend a small piece of foil that can be fashioned into a funnel and then folded flat - very light too, and won't take up any room.
