Trip DPEE Egypt Explorer

Postby One eyed Bob » Sun Feb 25, 2007 4:03 am

I plan to take the Egypt Explorer trip this October. I notice that it offers an optional side trip to Abu Simbel during one of the off days. I was wondering if GAP was considering making this a part of the trip instead of an option. I would gladly pay the $100 US for the flight from Aswan to Abu Simbel and back. This World Heritage Site would be of interest to everyone.

HI, the optional side trip to Abu Simbel will not be a part of the Egypt Explorer this year though we always look at what people want to help improve trips for later dates.

The Egypt Explorer does give you enough time to see it, and your $100 for the flights can be put to good use in country to get you there!

Abu Simbel Optional.

Hi there,
I use to work in Egypt as a tour leader and its easy enough to get out to Abu Simbel. You either fly out there which takes approx 45mins each way and costs about 120$US or you take a shared airconditioned bus which takes approx 3 hours each way. This only costs about 20$US. The second option is usually what most people end up doing as its a huge saving and the bus leave in the early hours of the morning so you can sleep on the way out. On the way back you have an option to stop at Philea Temple which is another must see sight.
Hope this Helps.
