First Trip Booking Questions.
Was referred on to GAP from a friend who took a tour to south America.
My girlfriend and I would like to do the ATTT (Treasures of Thailand) as our first international trip. Since most of the departure dates are not guaranteed, how do most people handle booking everything? Do you go for airfaire first then book the GAP tour, or book the gap tour and wait to book air? Or pay the extra amount to get a refundable/changeable ticket?
The dates we are thinking about isn't till Feb 08, so there is no rush. But just trying to figure out how to book.
Also what's the average time when a tour becomes "guaranteed"?
Thanks,
Erik

Hi Sinecure,
Welcome to the Watering Hole! I've moved your post to our "Trip Related Q&A" forum so that you get a quicker response to your questions. The G.A.P Sales team monitors that forum and will be able to respond to your questions ... and of course other forum members will provide their feedback as well.
Thanks!

Hi Erik !
When you book your tour with Gap and your departure isn't garanteed, it's better for you to wait before booking your airflights. In fact, Gap will confirm you quite early if your departure is official or cancelled. At least 60 days before the departure, but often earlier. For instance, I booked my place to Absolute Peru, starting next July 14th, in febuary. At that time, my departure wasn't garanteed. However, I got my departure confirmation few weeks later (in march). So, I booked my flights at that time. The best thing to do is to book a trip, but still keep on mind some other options, in case of.
