Hi My names georgina and I'm a travel addict.
6 years ago I gave up my relatively well paid job in London and headed down under. I came back and headed back into the world of work again. it lasted 2 years.
I then got myself a job working the seasons as a campsite rep in Europe; mostly France, but a bit of Switzerland, Holland and Spain thrown in. During the winters I call in on home for a few weeks, but then go off for either a winter season, or to travel.
I tried to go back to the world of a "proper job" earlier this year. I couldn't sit down for long enough. Another season it was then. This winter coming I'll be volunteering in South Africa first, before embarking on the gap DCN trip from Cape Town to Nairobi.
Over the last 6 years I have been to Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa (twice - the next one will be for the 3rd time) USA, Mexico, Canada, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Egypt, Spain, France Switzerland, Holland, Greece, Cyprus, Chech (sorry spelling!!) Republic, and many a weekend from those 2 years working in the UK was spent away. I have also worked my way through France, Spain, Holland, Swizterland and last but definately not least, the Finnish Lapland.
Regrets, yes I have never really met anyone to settle down with, but do have the flat and luckily have been in a position to pay off the mortgage and it gets rented out. Luckily funding my travel is not a problem since my flat gets a good rent. I'm 35 years old an still get asked if I'm on a gap year and outside France, get asked for I'd to buy alchohol.

It's an interesting subject, the ''Do I do the mortgage thing or do I spend it all now and travel?" I guess that discussion needs to be approached from where you are in life, agewise perhaps. There is a thread somewhere on here that touches upon that subject.
Or let's get another going!
Yep, back now from 3 weeks in Ethiopia, and 4 weeks in UK.So the off the wall philosophising is about to start afresh here!!LOL! And since we're travel addicts, having suffered for sooooo long,we're already working out our next adventures.Ethiopia almost cured us of our addiction, just about....but after r&r in Scotland I think we've relapsed again and fell off the wagon, ship, plane whatever!

For some reason I just had a flashback of "History of the World, Part I":

Dole Office Clerk: Occupation?
Comicus: Stand-up philosopher.
Dole Office Clerk: What?
Comicus: Stand-up philosopher. I coalesce the vapors of human experience into a viable and meaningful comprehension.
Dole Office Clerk: Oh, a *b------t* artist!
Comicus: *Grumble*...
Dole Office Clerk: Did you b------t last week?
Comicus: No.
Dole Office Clerk: Did you *try* to b------t last week?
Comicus: Yes!

Hi, I'm Peter again and I'm a travel addict.
Came back on the 2nd of october after four weeks travelling on the Trans Mongolian (8500 km on the rails).
Now I have to get my next fix, I'll book this week my next GAP-Trip and will go to Mexico in 95 days on a two weeks trip.
To get by, I'll probably go for a 4 days trip end of Dezember to London and if the weather is not too shitty I'll check out Stonehenge and Cardiff.

The weather will be shitty - I sadly, can guarantee it! But dont let that stop you - and be sure to check out our Old English country pubs for hot open fires and delicious pub grub! Yes the weather is shitty but there's always an up side!

Hi, It's Peter again and I'm a travel addict.
I've done it again; I booked my third GAP Trip within three years;
2010 - Trans Mongolian Adventure
2011 - Mexico Ancient Civilizations
and now
2012 - Indochina Encompassed
But it's now a long time to wait for this journey as you can see from my "countdown", but one has to earn the money to pay for your trips

Sadly no GAP trip for me in 2011 but I'm headed to the UK for two weeks about 10 days. Guess I shouldn't complain, I took two GAP trips (five if you count all the segments!) in 2009 and one in 2010 -- but I'm going through withdrawals!

My plan is to go away each and every year for a vacation. So far so good! Spain, East Africa, Peru, and India. I have a map of the world pinned on the wall at my desk at work. Every single day I look at it and torture myself as to where to go. Plus distances don't look so far on it ;-) . My plan for 2012 is Botswana and 2013 Zimbabwe. Unfortunately even though I have a lifetime deposit sitting with GAP I'm not using them for either of these trips. Hopefully 2014 will be Egypt and I can use my deposit!

Glad to see I'm not the only one who does this. Except instead of map I use Google Earth, which is way more distracting. One of these days my boss is gonna ask me to do some actual work, I bet...
