Stories/Advice About Studying Abroad

Postby adonde » Sat Mar 29, 2014 3:31 pm

I'm a linguistics major and I desperately want to study abroad.

I know that many of you have been world travelers for a long time. I'm curious if you ever studied abroad when you were at university. If you didn't, what is a place that you would you want to study?
Stories are more than welcome!

I didn't have the opportunity to study abroad. If I had, I'd probably have wanted to study in Scotland or Ireland. The problem with picking an exotic locale is that your studies may well suffer from your enjoyment of the local environment.

I live in the UK and studied in Melbourne for 6 months. It was the most amazing experience of my life, and infected me with the travel bug. It's great to live locally for a few months, especially if you can live in student accommodation and get to mix with students from all over the world, and then if you can swing a month or more at the end to see more of the country.
