Repositioning cruise on MS Expedition

Postby marriedwithluggage » Tue Mar 22, 2011 10:12 am

My wife and I have joined the M/S Expedition and her crew as the first passengers on board for a repositioning cruise. At the end of the Antarctic season the team must move the ship to the Arctic for the Arctic season cruises. We decided to ask if we could join and the amazing people at Gap agreed.

This trip will take us from Ushuaia, Argentina to Falmouth, England for a total of over 13,000+ kilometers in 5+ weeks. We are getting to know the crew and staff better then ever and enjoying seeing behind the scenes of a working ship.

If you have any questions about the ship or staff you would like to find out, just let us know and we would love to post the answers here.

In addition, we will be posting stories of our trip as well as pictures along the way on our blog - http://www.MarriedwithLuggage.com and on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/marriedwithluggage). We look forward to your questions and ideas for this journey.

Plus, if you just miss the ship or people let us know and we would love to post pictures as well.

That sounds like it would be amazing. I wish I could take that much time off to do it!

Agreed, it does require a great deal of time off to do something like this. My wife and I had to quit our jobs in order to follow our dream of traveling around the world. I don't regret that for a second as it is allowing us to have experiences which we could not have dreamed.

There is something about being in the middle of the ocean with flat horizon all around us that makes us so happy about this ride on the ship. We are having a blast in our first week here.

How fun! I just got off the M/S Expedition on the last Antarctic cruise of the season. Miss the crew already - they were amazing.

The crew is letting their hair down on this repositioning cruise and it gives us an opportunity to sit down and talk with each person. There are so many amazing stories that we are excited just to listen. Plus, we found out that the Expedition has a full band on board made up of the crew. They have been treating us to shows in the Polar Bear bar and we are loving it!

Here is an update from our cruise and how we are staying busy. Plus, you can see a few familiar faces from the crew - https://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=10150126939668801&oid=53960339934&comments

Last night we celebrated the Hotel Manager's (Alessandra) birthday with a party in the Polar Bear Bar. We got to see most of the crew, staff, and officers let their hair down a bit. It was a blast to enjoy the live music, dancing, and great food with everyone. As you can see, we even did a bit of dancing...

While on the cruise we have been able to spend a lot of time with the crew of the ship. In addition, we made a video together that we are sure you all will love as it will let you see the crew letting loose a bit - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wZVcmBMdp5k.
