Temperature at night onboard

Famous for its enormous icebergs, towering glaciers and shimmering summer light, Antarctica offers some of the planet's most awe inspiring landscapes. The North Atlantic and Arctic evoke images of sparse snow covered lands, but when summer comes it bursts with colour and life.

Temperature at night onboard

Postby hmac2014 » Mon Jul 14, 2014 8:53 am

Just wondering how cold will it be at night onboard? I will going to the Arctic in august. Will I need to bring fleece PJs?

Unless you're out standing on deck it's nice and toasty! I'd just make sure that whatever you do pick for nightwear, it works if you need to make a dash for a polar bear sighting, with a parka thrown on top!

I just wore standard flannel pj's and had no issues with temperature - additionally each cabin has its own aircon controls, so you can adjust to your tastes.

I agree. I slept in pajama pants and a t-shirt...and had my coat and camera ready to go if we were awakened in the middle of the night for a bear! Which we never were...all of our bear sightings occurred during normal waking hours. :)

Inside things were toasty. Lots of people were in the lounge in shorts and tee shirts. I slept in shorts and a tee shirt but had full clothes at the ready in case we had an onboard emergency to respond to. The Gumby suit exercise is no joke so anyone going on a cruise like this should be mentally prepared to get clothes on enough to go out on deck in 60 seconds and get the Gumby suit on in another 60-90 seconds.
