Diabetic feet and fit of G provided boots

Famous for its enormous icebergs, towering glaciers and shimmering summer light, Antarctica offers some of the planet's most awe inspiring landscapes. The North Atlantic and Arctic evoke images of sparse snow covered lands, but when summer comes it bursts with colour and life.

Diabetic feet and fit of G provided boots

I am about to signed up for "Antarctica Classic in Depth" but my physician is concerned about the boots
provided, and whether they could cause a problem with forming blisters, and also, if they can be made compatible with a folding ankle brace I usually wear that comes to about 3" below the left knee. Does anyone know the manufacturer so perhaps I could try on a pair in the US to check on fit.

hi david,
i work on the ship as their expedition photographer. The boots provided are Wellingtons
so you would have to figure out your size needed with a brace and usually we have large
sizes available, but best to be sure...

I will forward your information to base camp marine folks as well, since I am not back on the ship until the fall, and see if there is more information that can be provided.

cheers

Hello David,
I also work on the G Expedition as a guide and Zodiac driver.

For this very specific circumstance, I would suggest that you bring your own waterproof, knee high boots. Having good boots is important to an enjoyable cruise to Antarctica, and I don't think we can say with certainty that our stock boots will work for your situation, especially if it involved a brace of some kind.

I hope that helps, and see you next season in Antarctica!!
Just Doug
